Here’s why your support matters
It may surprise you that Movember stays busy 365 days a year. Outside of the hairy season, we’re changing the face of men’s health on every level. So, when it comes time to ask for your support, you know the fundsyou raise make the most real impact possible.
Your commitment has delivered real impact
Movember is the biggest month in the men’s health calendar. But every day we’re committed to pushing men’s health forward.
Since the first moustache was grown in Movember 2003, you've helped us fund over 1,320 projects across men's mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. Here's just a taste of what your support has helped us deliver.
- Growing the impact of our Movember Institute of Men’s Health - This is Movember’s impact engine that brings together the world’s best minds in men’s health to crack the toughest health challenges men and boys face today. Already, the Institute is funding vital research and, with our inhouse expert team, working alongside our sector partners, delivering key health initiatives and programs, raising awareness of men’s health in the community, and influencing major changes to government policy and how the health system supports men.
- Training health practitioners to keep men connected to care -
Many men who seek help still walk into rooms with practitioners who aren't trained to engage them. In Australia, our world-first Men in Mind training course for psychologists, counsellors, social workers and mental health nurses is an example of how we’re closing that gap, so when a man reaches out, he gets care that meets him where he is at. Over 2,500 mental health practitioners have enrolled on the course so far; all better equipped to grasp the complexities of men’s health to deliver care that engages, motivates and connects with male clients.
- Connecting to young men though esports - Millions of young men find real connection through esports, but burnout, harassment and anxiety are real risks too. We conducted the largest-ever review of esports mental health research to lay the groundwork for the first mental health guidelines built specifically for esports - protecting an entire generation of young men in a space no one else was looking at closely enough.
